This week i learned that lipids are used for energy.

kaleb acree said...

J.Morris, a lipid is a chemical compound and has carbon and hydrogen atoms, with a double bond og oxygen.

kaleb acree said...

I learned about chemical compounds and their components and properties. Also, I learned how to make molecular models. I don't know if all organic chemical compounds have the three major components, oxygen, carbon, and hydrogen.

Brittany Davis said...

This week I learned how to classify and identify organic compounds but im not understanding lipids.

Brittany Davis said...

Steven, carbohydrates are compunds made up of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen atoms, major source of energy for the human body.

Morgan Hall said...

This week I lear
ned about lipids and carbohydrates. I learned what they are and their functions. I still don't understand chemical bonds very well.

This week I've learned about lipids and how they store energy for the body. But I've having some trouble with understanding what ribonucleic acids do.

This week I learned about lipids, but I still need help with chemical bonds.

Bethany said...

brittany davis, lipids are made up of carbon and hydrogen atoms and can be used to store energy.

KHolman said...

I learned class this week is the different functions for lipids. I still need help understanding the different chemical bonds.

James to help you lipids help to store energy.

This week I have learned about the four organism compounds, and how they are different. I do not understand the pH scale, and how it works.

t.cole, monomers are small units that form polymers. Polymers is a bigger unit of joined monomers. Hope that answers your question.

Unknown said...

adam023, a chemical bond is the process that is responsible for the attractive interactions between atoms and molecules.

Lexi said...

This week I learned how to construct chemical bonds.
I still need help understanding the relationship between a polymer and monomer.

Hayden said...

This week I learned what lipids are. I still dont completely understand chemical bonds yet. Somebody Help!!!

Hayden said...

Dear Taylor,
Monomers and polymers are acully quite simple. Monomers are small units that form polymers. Polymers re made up on monomers.

Unknown said...

This week I learned hydrogen and nitrogen, the building models really helped me. I still need help with lipids and functioning of them.

Roosh1992 said...

This week I learned all about the five major organic compounds. However, I still do not quite understand the polymers and monomers.

Roosh1992 said...

Steven Lewis, the answer to your question is that carbohydrates are compounds made up of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen atoms.

Unknown said...

this week i learned about lipids and how to make those cool models. I need help with chemical bonds

Unknown said...

roosh, polymers make up monomers which is the answer to your question

rasheena said...

This weekend i learned about lipids and carbohydrates also about acids
I've still need a little bit more help on the bonds

well pebbles 08 making the bonds are easy you just have to follow directions then you will get the hang of it

TiFFero said...

This week I learned about polymers and monomers. But I still need help on chemical bonds.

Tcole polymers are made up of monomers. You cna't have polymers without monomers.

e.cook said...

This week I learned more about glocose and sucrose and how to detect it. I still don't understand lipids very well.

Sarah Kay, protiens are made up of subunits called amino acids (hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon)

this week in class we learned how to show protein, sugar, starch. And what may have protein, sugar or starch in them it was really fun working in the lab and finding out what had what in it. I still need A little bit of help on
the bonds all bonds

This week I learned about lipids, carbohydrates, proteins and nucleic acids.I am having a tiny bit of difficulty remembering the actions of organic compounds in living things.

luke teel: polymers- formed by monomers which join together.
monomers- smaller units of macromolecules.

Holly "Crypto" said...

I learned about polymers and carbohydrates.
I still need help understandig lipids.

Troy- not sure about finding lipids, but to find starch you add idodine to whatever you're finding starch in. Like when you put iodine on a potato, it turns bluish black, because of all the starch in it.

RLEstep93 said...

Holly: Lipids are used in living things to store energy, typically end in -glyceride or -lipid,and only contain Carbon, Hydroen, and Oxygen.

kaleb acree said...

This week I learned that life wouldn't exist without protien molecules, catalysts speed up reactions, and subsrates are reactents in the reaction. What i don't understand is what is a type of substrate?

Dear Jordan Wallace,

The pH scale shows acidic or basic a substance is. If the pH level is: below 7 than it is an acid, if it's at 7 than it's neutral, probably is purew water, and if it's above 7 than it's a base.

elaine said...

for this week i have learned about lipids.i still need more help with chemical bonds.

j.wallace, the pH scale is that if it is at 7 its neutral, above 7 probably and base and below 7 that means it is an acid.

J.Wallace
pH scale...
-if the pH is seven, then it is neutral (ex. water)
-if the pH is lower than seven then it is acidic (ex. any kind of acid-carbonic aicd)
-if the pH is higher than seven then it is basic (ex. ammonia)

hey bethany,

in general, chemical bonding is associated with the sharing (sometimes to the point of near-transfer) of electrons between the participating atoms.

Steven the answer to your question is carbohydrates are made of carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen. They have a ratio of 1:2:1.

Mantha22 said...

This week I learned about carbohydrates and sugars. I still need help with lipids.

Mantha22 said...

Bethany: There are 2 main type of chemical bonds (Ionic bonds, and covalent bonds) The ionic bond is formed when one or more electrons are transferred from one atom to another. & Covalent bonds form when electrons are shared between atoms
